Mackinnon Bruce is working exclusively with a global provider of advanced laboratory tools and solutions, specialising in precision liquid handling, sample preparation, and workflow optimisation technologies that support scientific research, diagnostics, and life science innovation across academia and industry.
We are seeking a highly driven Country Manager for China to lead and scale national commercial operations within a fast-growing, technology-led life sciences environment. This is a pivotal leadership role focused on delivering sustainable revenue growth, strengthening market presence, and building high-performing teams in a competitive and evolving market.
The Role
As Country Manager, you will take full ownership of the China sales strategy and execution. You will lead both direct and indirect sales channels, optimise market coverage, and build strong relationships with key customers and distribution partners. This position combines strategic planning with hands-on leadership, requiring a balance of commercial insight, operational excellence, and people development.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy aligned to regional and global objectives
- Drive revenue growth through effective territory planning, pipeline development, and key account management
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing sales team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement
- Optimise sales processes, reporting structures, and performance tracking to enhance productivity
- Manage and expand distributor networks, including selection, performance management, and contractual agreements
- Identify and capitalise on new market opportunities, customer segments, and application areas
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, and internal teams globally
- Provide market insights and strategic feedback to inform broader business decisions
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and sales performance analysis
Requirements
- Degree in a scientific or commercial-technical discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in sales, business development, or marketing within life sciences, laboratory equipment, or related technical sectors
- Strong track record of leading teams and/or distributor networks in China
- Deep understanding of sales methodologies, with the ability to coach and develop others
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to scale a business in a complex market
- Familiarity with laboratory workflows and customer challenges in research or applied science environments
- Experience in liquid handling or related technologies is advantageous
- Fluent in Mandarin and English
- Willingness to travel extensively within China (approximately 30–70%)
