Process / Engineering Director – ClimateTech | Industrial Decarbonisation

  • Location: United Kingdom (Remote, with UK & International Travel)
  • Sector: Industrial Decarbonisation, CCUS, CleanTech
  • Equity Options
  • Flexible Full-Time Role

An early-stage industrial decarbonisation start-up is seeking a visionary Process / Engineering Director to join its leadership team and shape the next generation of carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) and gas separation/conversion technologies.

This is an opportunity to lead technical strategy, innovation, and scale-up in a fast-growing climate tech environment tackling one of the hardest sectors to decarbonise - heavy industry.

The Role:

You will define and execute the company’s engineering roadmap—from R&D to commercial deployment—ensuring that innovative process technologies evolve from pilot systems to industrial-scale solutions.

Working closely with the CEO, CTO, and commercial team, you will translate science into scalable, commercially viable decarbonisation technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end engineering strategy, design, and implementation.
  • Oversee the scale-up of CCUS and gas conversion technologies.
  • Build, coach, and grow a high-performing engineering team.
  • Collaborate with industrial partners, research institutions, and technology vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.

About You:

  • Advanced degree (MSc or higher) in Chemical or Process Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in CCUS, gas separation, or industrial process technology development.
  • Proven track record scaling clean technologies from concept to deployment.
  • Strategic thinker with strong leadership, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting complex technical information clearly.

What’s on Offer:

Join a purpose-driven company where your expertise directly accelerates the transition to net zero. You will have genuine influence over technical direction and growth strategy, working alongside a passionate, mission-driven leadership team.

Benefits include:

  • Equity participation in a fast-scaling climate tech start-up
  • Up to 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • 3% pension contribution
  • Flexible remote working with international collaboration opportunities
