About the Opportunity
A global equipment manufacturer within the packaging and automation industry is seeking a Lead Project Manager – Execution, based in the Atlanta area to join its growing Project Management function.
Reporting to the Director of Project Execution, you’ll oversee all aspects of large-scale capital equipment projects, from order intake through to commissioning and customer acceptance, while leading a high-performing team of project managers and engineers.
This is a pivotal leadership role within a global organization that designs, manufactures, and installs advanced packaging and processing systems for the world’s leading food & beverage brands.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of 8 project managers to deliver complex capital equipment projects on time, on budget, and to customer expectations.
- Oversee project execution from equipment supply through installation and commissioning.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, cost, and delivery (S-Q-C-D) standards.
- Manage contracts, cost control, scheduling, and risk management activities.
- Foster collaboration between engineering, sales, and service teams to ensure seamless execution.
- Develop team capabilities through coaching, performance tracking, and continuous improvement.
- Drive adherence to internal governance, trade finance, and legal frameworks.
- Champion a culture of accountability, safety, and technical excellence.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field).
- 8–12 years of experience in project management within capital equipment, packaging, automation, or industrial machinery environments.
- Proven leadership experience — ideally managing multi-disciplinary teams in a matrix or global setup.
- Strong knowledge of project financials, installation, and commissioning practices.
- Skilled in MS Project, ERP/SAP, and standard PM tools; PMI certification is a plus.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Comfortable with up to 40% travel domestically and internationally.
