Project Manager - Water and Wastewater

Our client is a leader in water disinfection technologies for municipal clients. Through its various operating subsidiaries, is one of the most dynamic and fastest growing companies in the water infrastructure market, with a portfolio of proprietary and patented technologies targeting water and wastewater treatment, including on‐site hypochlorite generation equipment, polymer activation systems, chemical feed systems, and potable water mixing and treatment systems.

Our client is seeking candidates for a full‐time Project Manager based in Milpitas, California.

Under the direction of the Manager of Projects, this position will work closely with the Applications Engineering, Engineering, Purchasing, and Field Service departments in the execution of projects satisfying customer specifications. The Project Manager will work in an externally focused role to develop engineering and technical submittals, project Bills of Material (“BOM”), and Operation and Maintenance (“O&M”) Manuals for assigned projects. Additional responsibilities include resource planning, project delivery management, oversight, and all technical activities required to assure project scope accuracy and quality from sales kickoff to completion.

This role requires a balance between technical and managerial business skills. The successful candidate will be a self‐starter with a customer‐centric personality, strong communication skills, and MS Office proficiency. A preference will be provided to those who have been directly involved in developing technical support for similar product lines in the municipal or industrial water and/or wastewater market and have had applications engineering, project engineering, or project management experience with other closely related technologies.


Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for the overall planning, management, quality, and completion of system deployments within project constraints on budget/cost, time/schedule, scope, and quality.
  • Work with Sales and Applications Engineering departments to assess project requirements.
  • Review project contract documents, including plans and specifications. Determine which specifications apply to the project scope and warrant additional review by third parties.
  • Identify resource requirements, meet training needs, and define project deliverables.
  • Work with customers and vendors to review and select materials and equipment that comply with component specification documents and application requirements.
  • Review and create process flow diagrams and piping & instrumentation diagrams.
  • Review vendor‐provided electrical control panel drawings, including bills of materials, to confirm equipment voltage and PLC input/output match project requirements.
  • Prepare technical submittal documents, including detailed scope of supply, process description, schedule, clarifications and exceptions to contract documents, vendor‐provided submittals, and product data sheets.
  • Prepare project BOMs and all documentation needed for equipment fabrication.
  • Prepare project O&M manuals, including detailed step-by-step operations and troubleshooting guides.
  • Ensure effective communications and relationships between customer(s) and project team members are maintained.
  • Communicate to senior management the assessed risk and project status.
  • Maintain positive relationships and ensure effective communications between customers and project team members are maintained.
  • Provide customer satisfaction and reporting structures.
  • Maintain project-related materials, including customer communications, vendor correspondence, drawings, plans, and specifications in the project library/storage system.
  • Comply with PSI’s safety and personal protective equipment policies since customer sites may allow exposure to dangerous conditions.
  • Occasional travel to customer sites to complete tasks.
  • Willingness to travel and work under a variety of weather extremes.
  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license with a clean driving record (MVR will be run regularly).
  • Perform other tasks as assigned. Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering (mechanical/chemical/civil/environmental) from an accredited college or university.
  • Two to five years' experience managing projects.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and redline construction drawings, including mechanical, process, and electrical.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Detail-oriented, organised, self‐starter, and able to handle multiple projects at the same time.
  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with others with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel between facilities and, on occasion, to customer sites (up to 10% of the time to locations within the continental U.S. and Canada). Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the municipal water and/or wastewater industries.
  • Familiarity with 2D AutoCAD, Great Plains ERP, and Salesforce software. Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25lbs.
  • Ability to look at computer monitors for much of the workday. Work Environment
