We are collaborating with one of Europe’s foremost EPC providers in the field of large-scale photovoltaic power plants to recruit a Senior SCADA Engineer for their expanding operations in Munich.
Position Overview
This is a high-level technical role, accountable for the design, integration, and end-to-end management of SCADA and communications systems within utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) projects. The appointment is ideally suited to a seasoned automation professional with advanced technical know-how, strong commercial acumen, and the capability to implement reliable control systems on complex international renewable energy projects.
Core Responsibilities
Define plant monitoring and control requirements, developing integration strategies and system specifications.
Oversee the design of SCADA, CCTV, and communications infrastructure, ensuring alignment with global standards (e.g. IEC 61724).
Develop cost assessments, review technical proposals, and contribute to procurement processes.
Produce electrical and control schematics, wiring diagrams, and system layouts using EPLAN.
Configure RTUs, instrumentation, firewalls, routers, and data loggers to maintain secure and efficient network operations.
Work closely with technology partners and field engineers during installation, validation, and commissioning.
Deliver technical assistance through commissioning and operational phases, preparing documentation and performance reports.
Support grid connection teams during DNO testing and evaluate system performance data to drive improvements.
Candidate Requirements
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or comparable technical field.
Significant experience in automation engineering, with direct involvement in SCADA systems for large-scale solar PV projects.
In-depth understanding of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, IEC 61850, IEC 60870, OPC).
Proficiency with EPLAN (essential), AutoCAD, and SCADA/solar monitoring software.
Prior exposure to BESS projects would be considered a strong asset.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects from design through to commissioning.
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the capacity to address complex automation and electrical challenges.
Fluency in English and German.
Flexibility to travel up to 15% internationally, including to demanding project environments.
