Description
I am currently representing a well-established and fast-growing company within the renewable energy industry. Since the early 2000s, this firm has been at the forefront of the energy transition, developing large-scale renewable infrastructure projects across Europe. With a strong focus on sustainability, collaboration, and transparency, they are committed to delivering high-quality wind, solar, and battery storage solutions that meet the needs of the local environment and communities.
They’re now looking to appoint a Senior Accountant to join their finance team.
About the Role:
This position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional to take on a broad accounting remit within a mission-driven organisation. You will be responsible for independently managing day-to-day accounting operations and working in close coordination with an external accountancy provider. This is a hands-on role that offers autonomy and variety, suited to someone who thrives in a dynamic, purpose-led business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and record incoming invoices and credit notes on a regular basis to maintain accurate financial data.
- Prepare and issue payment runs and client invoices, ensuring punctual and precise execution.
- Maintain key financial journals, including those related to banking, current accounts, and miscellaneous entries.
- Monitor accounts receivable and payable for one or more business units, following up on outstanding payments within set timelines.
- Collaborate with the external accounting firm and internal finance leadership to manage VAT, tax compliance, and payroll processes.
- Prepare accurate monthly and quarterly balance sheets and financial reports in line with applicable accounting regulations.
- Assist management with financial insights and take on ad hoc accounting-related tasks to support broader business objectives.
- Coordinate statutory year-end closing and liaise with external auditors to ensure a smooth and compliant audit process.
- Stay up to date with accounting standards and best practices, applying them to improve financial accuracy and efficiency.
Requirements:
- Strong background in accounting with at least 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Proven ability to work independently while maintaining excellent coordination with external partners.
- Sound understanding of VAT, tax legislation, and statutory accounting processes.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organisational skills.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, mission-led environment.
- Experience in the energy, infrastructure, or project-based industries is a plus.
