We are partnered with a leading global mining organisation is seeking an experienced Director of Sustaining Capital & Projects to provide strategic oversight across a portfolio of sustaining capital projects throughout its North American operations.
This is a senior portfolio-level position, responsible for ensuring multiple site-based projects are effectively governed, prioritised and delivered safely, on schedule and in line with business objectives. The role will oversee 30+ projects at any given time, with individual project values ranging from smaller site initiatives through to projects valued at approximately $100M.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the governance and oversight of a portfolio of sustaining capital projects across multiple North American mining sites.
- Provide strategic direction across the full project lifecycle, from early-stage scoping and feasibility through to execution and close-out.
- Establish consistent project governance, standards, KPIs and reporting across the portfolio.
- Oversee project scope, schedule, cost, risk and performance.
- Support quarterly capital planning and allocation in partnership with finance and operational teams.
- Provide oversight of AFE development, approval and execution.
- Partner closely with site operations, engineering, maintenance and project teams to ensure capital projects align with operational priorities.
- Identify opportunities to improve project delivery, capital efficiency and portfolio performance.
- Provide senior-level reporting and recommendations to corporate leadership.
- Work closely with internal engineering teams and external EPCM partners to ensure successful project execution.
You will ideally have:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
- 15+ years' experience in engineering, project management or capital project delivery.
- Proven experience managing a large portfolio of concurrent capital projects.
- Experience delivering sustaining capital projects, preferably within mining or mineral processing.
- Strong understanding of project governance, cost control, budgeting and capital allocation.
- Experience with AFE development and approval processes.
- Experience working across multiple sites and with site-based project teams.
